THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AT WAR
This year the advent of the Christmas season marked the first anniversary of America’s participation in the present war against Germany, Japan, and Italy—the worst conflict in the history of the world. Like every other arm of industry in America, the musical instrument manufacturers stand behind our country and President Roosevelt in this fight. Piano factories in the main are now turning out gliders, propellers, and wing components.

After nearly all civilian production had been suspended to support the War effort, C.G. Conn advertised that the keys from eight clarinets contained enough nickel for one 37 mm aircraft gun, enough copper for two 75 mm howitzers, and enough zinc for three gas masks.
